Canon Eos 30d Shutter Count Software For Nikon

Ingo R wrote.but it's not easy. It's buried within the EXIF data file -- and I mean buried. Unless it has changed from the 20D. It's on the net somewhere and I was able to use a hex reader for windows to do so, but not on my Mac. Anyhow, found it. So here it is: That's interesting. Is it really the shutter count?
Does it go above 10,000? (it obviously wraps around after 65,535 since it is 16 bits). I tested it on the only CR2 I have. It shows me '12961' but I'm not sure what is my exact number of shutter actuation (the file is IMG_0161 and it has definitely wrapped around 10k, but I suspect it was returned slightly used and resold).

If you're fairly technical but don't want to read the article, it says that for 20D and 30D CR2, go to offset 0x95D (decimal 2397) and read the 2 byte value as a 16 bit, Big Endian (high order byte first) value (example: if value at 0x95D is 0x10 and value at 0x95E is 0x1f, the value is 0x101f = 4127 in decimal. And it FAILED. I figured it out by taking readings from various old file folders and then using a formated card and renaming the folder (changing count to reset from continuous) to an old folder number and then checking again. The so-called 'actuation count' number is the same on both the one-year old file and the new one. So this method is NOT reliable. Sure, the actuations MAY be stored in the exif data somewhere -- but it sure ain't positions 95D E 'Thank you for your submission to DP Review's 20D/30D Mythbusters.' -- Ingo pbase supporter.
Doug Kerr posted a solution for how to read the file and folder data from a 20D from a pair of HEX values in a 20D RAW file some time back. But it just gives you the same number as you get for file and folder anyhow. His formula worked perfectly and proved that the two locations that some were claiming to be the 'shutter count' were actually just the file and folder value. His post about it is here: I know the 30D uses a different folder numbering scheme than the 20D uses, so things could be a bit different, but still, so far as anyone has been able to prove, the actual shutter count is not available in the EXIF data from these cameras. Epson R230 Printer Flash Software. We've just got to keep track of things ourselves, and if we buy a used 20D or 30D, we'll have no idea what the shutter count really is. Why Canon has this 'hidden' for these bodies is the real mystery. Elaborare Il 2 Tempi Facchinelli Pdf Printer here.
