Acresso software manager agent is trying to access the internet, what is this program?

What is Acresso Software Manager? Can I, should I remove it? The background of this issue is that I just noticed (never noticed it before) an item in the Start menu named 'Software Updates', which I traced to ProgramData FLEXnet Connect 11 ISUSPM.exe. Searching around, I learned that this automatically checks for, downloads, and installs software updates. Tracing back from the 'date modified' information of the. Connect folder, and checking Windows Programs & Features (Add/Remove Programs) Control Panel, I deduced that this item is related to the following items - PaperPort Image Printer 64-bit - Nuance PaperPort 12 - Nuance PDF Viewer Plus - MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (this may be an unrelated item) which, in turn, are related to the installation of software for a Brother MFC-9970CDW laser multifunction unit.

Researching these items, it seems that the Nuance/PaperPort items may actually be quite useful. However, I'm not crazy about having programs getting updated automatically without my knowledge/approval. Thus my question. Can I safely remove the ISUSPM.exe file? Can I simply delete it?

As you have discovered, Acresso Software Manager is part of PaperPort. If you want to get rid of it entirely, uninstall the first 3 programs you mentioned, leaving MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser. If you want to shut down Acresso Software Manager only, you might look in a couple of places to see if it is started independently. Download and install Sysinternals Autoruns program and look for it there. Check in Control Panel >Administrative Tools >Pci Serial Port Driver Windows 7 32 Bit Hp Dc7800. Following the several suggestions, here's what I found: - Admin Tools ->Services - Found PDFProFiltSrvPP, whose purpose I could not determine but which I assume is related to Nuance PDF Viewer - Run msconfig - The Services tab has PDFProFiltSrvPP - The Startup tab has SSEreg related to Nuance - Run Autoruns - Found PDFProFiltSrvPP (but not SSEreg) I am assuming PDFProFiltSrvPP is benign, which leaves SSEreg as the culprit. Does anyone have any information as to what is SSEreg? I am pursuing these before I attempt the Software Manager Uninstall.exe tool suggested by Paul T. SSEreg didn't sound like an auto-downloader. For want of any alternative, ran SoftwareManagerUninstall.exe following the suggestion by Paul T. Apparently ran successfully, but didn't seem to do anything. Both the 'Software Updates' Start Menu item and the file it points to (C: ProgramData FLEXnet Connect 11 ISUSPM.exe) are still present; ditto after a restart. I've decided to let this issue go for now; I've spent enough time on it.

I will monitor the files associated with the Brother software for changes and proceed accordingly. By the way, is there a utility that monitors changes to software/files and generates a report if/when there is a change? I'm sure there must be a Windows utility.
